Loudoun County Autism Summit

An informational session regarding proposed VA HB-83, a bill proposed to mandate health insurers to cover services for individuals with Autism.

Objectives:

- Learn about national, state and local initiatives to help individuals overcome autism from Autism Speaks representatives;

- Meet our elected representatives and learn about relevant legislative initiatives for the Commonwealth and the County;

- Hear testimonials from parents, educators and service providers working to overcome the challenges of autism;

- Rally support for the passage of VA House Bill 83 to Mandate Health Insurers to cover services for individuals with Autism

I want to do what I can to help pass VA House Bill 83, to force health care insurers to cover needed autism services for our children. It's an outrage that the insurers have been able to deny this care to children in such need of medical care. It's time Virginia, which now likes to think of itself as modern and cutting-edge, to replace its backwater, substandard programs now in place for vulnerable citizens (including children with autism and other developmental delays) with enlightened, fully funded programs that Virginians can be proud of.

I just added the latest version of HB83 on this site. See the main page under "Other Autism Content" to launch the pdf file and view the current language.

KiDazzles, Children's Speech Therapy Center's all inclusive kids' club is offering the "Summit Club" for your children on the night of the Loudoun County Autism Summit.

The Summit Club will be available on Monday night from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm. There will be activities for the kids including the moon bounce, story time and a craft. The cost is $40 per child. Parents will need to provide a nut free snack. Pre-registration is required. NO Drop-ins. Contact KiDazzles at 703-858-7388 to register now.

KiDazzles is located at 21660 Red Rum Drive, Ashburn, VA (approx 6 miles from the summit site).

I am looking forward to attending. My son Shelby has a condition called lissencephaly, but is often referred to having Autism.

I am so happy this event is taking place. My husband is always working overtime so that our son can have the services he requires. This is long overdue. Thanks! :-)
