Connecting people touched by Autism

( JLARC)Statewide Assessment of Services for Virginians with Autism Spectrum Disorders (June 8, 2009) uncovers significant flaws!

Attached is the recent JLARC report hot off the press. The report states:

• Publicly supported programs often inadequately coordinated;
• ASDs frequently diagnosed and addressed later than recommended;
• Early intervention programs not designed or structured to effectively address ASDs;
• Many schools unable to meet the needs of students with ASDs;
• Few ASD training opportunities available to public safety personnel;
• Limited supports exist to facilitate independence … and more.

Much work needs to be done!
